I have not used the HP48 Survey Pro CAD for the last 10-12 years but now I have a project with the need to use it.I charged the batteries for more than 24 hours, put new batteries in the calculator and I am getting a display warning me "Invalid Data Card". Also when I go to the library of the HP, I see the word "Main" above the "A" key. When I press the Alpha Key, I get a string of choices, "Main" disappears and the string appears. If I press any key "A-E", I get a beeping sound and I cannot get the generic menu. NOTE: When I use the COGO Card, I press in Alpha Mode TDS COGO - Do I need to press a code for Survey Pro? Any advice/answers/guidance is much appreciated...Thank you...GLC..Arizona

I think you need a ram card as well
Search the forum for "hp48gx ram card issue I think". That helped me last week.
Type "PINIT" Enter and wait.
If that does not work, pull the pad on the back and insert a paper clip.
It may also be necessary to put the cards in the opposite slot, then swap back.
All from memory.

Dusting off that corner of my memory:
- Turn off 48
- remove BOTH cards
- Turn 48 on
- press (all three) ON, A, F
- release (all three)
- Try to recover memory? NO
- turn off 48
- place program card in slot 2
- turn 48 on
- alpha key (x2) T D S 4 8
- Hit enter and wait for program to install
- Turn 48 off
- Put program card in slot 1 memory card in slot 2
- Turn 48 on
- alpha key (x2) T D S 4 8
- Enter
- If everything went as planned Survey Pro should launch
