I think it's about time to put the trusty old HP 430 out to pasture. I've been looking at the new HP 111, so any opinions are welcome, pro or con. I know this probably has been discussed to death, but most of it was on the other now-defunct board, and I don't know how to access any of the old stuff. Besides, this board is where i live now.
I don't need a big whopper plotter, it's just me here, and the biggest thing I do is 24"X36" sheets. The cost of the 111 is very attractive as well.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I've got a like new 430 setting in my basement if you are interested in it I'll make you a deal on it. All it needs is a new ink cartridge. I used it for about a year before I upgraded to a 1055. I bought it new and it is about 6 years old now, but with as little as it has been used I would imagine it has many years of life left in it. I have a crew heading to Savannah in a couple of weeks so I could probably arrange delivery too. Just let me know if you want it.
The 111 Designjet looks like the replacement for the 110 NR Plus which is what I have had for almost 5 years. It's been a good one.
Snoop,
Thanks for the offer, but I have decided to go with a newer color plotter. I have found out that my development clients love a nice color aerial with the property overlaid onto it, so I may as well get one of the color ones.
Thanks again for the offer.

Not to discount the decision to buy a newer model, but it's worth noting that the 430 can be converted to a 450C with nothing more than a firmware hack and some color cartridges. HP built color capability into the 430, but concealed the fact from the user. They offered a pricey conversion kit consisting of a set of color cartridges and instructions for effecting the firmware change.
I bought the kit a few years before I learned about the no-cost method. It was worth it from the standpoint of having color capability, but if I'd known then what I know now I'd have done it myself and pocketed the hundreds of dollars I paid for the secret handshake.
Instructions for reprogramming the EEPROM to effect the conversion can be found in the service manual, which is available from a number of sources.
Jim,
Thanks, I had seen that on the old board. I considered doing that a while back, but never got around to it. One of the reasons I want to go with a new one is that there are some driver/software improvements to the new plotter over the old one. I upgraded to Win 7, and the old gray mare just hasn't been what she used to be. Then again, neither am I.
Thanks again,
Dale
