I'm hoping Leegreen or someone else can help me...I got a second Panasonic fz-m1 used for a backup and one of the other crews wanted to use it, as their Mesa 2 tablet died a few months back. They're using a TSC3 which they can barely see the screen outdoors.?ÿ

We got the license for the field software transferred to the Panasonic and they took it out yesterday to try it and found they could barely see the screen in the bright sunlight.?ÿ

Back in the office I put it next to mine and they're both set to 100% brightness but mine is a good 50% brighter looking. It's also the second generation and has windows 10 vs windows 8 on the older one, but I don't recall seeing anything about a display change in the newer model. I don't know if we're missing something in the cruddy windows 8 settings (I've never had experience with Windows 8 before) or if the older one had lower brightness. Maybe there is a driver update that would help? Or maybe it's just a worn out display. It looks good other than not being bright enough, but the bios showed it had 40,000 hours on it.?ÿ

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.?ÿ

?ÿ

Wow, that's a lot of hours. May be the screen protector.

The screen protector will discolor over time.

Check power save mode.

Sounds like it is set to adaptive brightness to save battery by automatically adjusting to light conditions.

@leegreen?ÿ

I believe I disabled that and set everything to be 100% brightness on battery and plugged in. It's also set to "high performance mode". We're wondering whether it's a driver issue. Also considering attempting to update it to windows 10 but it sounds like that could be a bit of work getting proper drivers and possible instability after that.?ÿ

Like I said, we're not familiar with Windows 8 but everything we could find to do with the brightness we set to 100%.?ÿ

@350rocketmike?ÿ

I would NOT hesitate to upgrade from Win8 to Win10. The driver issues were bad in Win8. There are still free options to upgrade.

@leegreen?ÿ

I guess that's the next step. Looks like the guy who was trying to fix their Mesa 2 which crashed months ago and couldn't even get into the bios may have finally got it working again...so they're going back to it hopefully and the fz-m1 will once again be my backup. So worst case scenario if it ends up with instability issues on windows 10 like I've heard is possible it will at least be an extra battery charger for mine.?ÿ
