I recently purchased a Leica TCRA 1102 Plus with RCS 1100 controller. I am looking to upgrade the controller and software to Carlson and/or Allegro. What is my best option? I have looked on ebay for different controllers, but some have the software I want and some don't. How do I verify which controllers will connect to my robot? I do already have the 26 and 27 radios for the robot.
Thanks!
husersurv,
The allegro worked well with the TPS1100 series. I have a guide for connecting the Allegro and TCPS27 Radio.
Here is the radio compatibility list for what will work:
A. The RCS1100 internal radio will only work with TCPS26. You can run an external radio that is cabled to the RCS1100 port. I know you want to switch from the RCS1100 but you can use it as a backup with a TCPS27 hooked externally.
B. The Allegro radio pods where just working only with the TCPS27 radios for the original models of the Allegro. The TCPS27’s were listed with as a TCPS27B for the base radios that would be with the instrument but… they are all the same and can be programed as the base radio or the moving (rover) radio. I have the programming software but you need to have a serial connection and a cable to program it. The Y cable that hooks to the instrument for COM, power, and radio connection will work but you need an adapter that converts the lemo to the radio to a serial connection to the PC.
I need to look up the part number for the adapter and the Y cable for the TCPS27. The Y cable used with the TCPS26 is different than the y cable for the TCPS27. The lemo connector to the TCPS27 radio is larger than the one used with the TCPS26.
Not to hijack the thread...well, ok, so I did.
Will the RH1200 radio connect with the radio pod in an Allegro CX?
Thanks,
ibenhavin
Yes, The RH1200 will connect to the Allegro Radio Pod. The RH1200 will but unless the newer Allegro's had a different radio avaiable the Rh1200 would be the only Leica radio handle that will work.
If you're willing to put up with a klunkier physical configuration, you can ditch the Leica radios entirely and replace them with long-range Bluetooth radios like the Parani SD1000.
I found another controller with Carlson 2.0. He says when he clicks LEICA TOTAL STATIONS, the only ones that come up are TPS 1200, TPS 1100, TPS 1000. Can this changed to support my TCRA 1102 robotically?
Support for the TPS1100 series isn't the question. You need the SurvCE robotics capability enabled; it's not part of the standard package.
The gentlemen said this.
If I check "About SurvCE", the information shown is:
SurvCE Version 2.06 8/15/08
TS: ON
GPS: ON
ROBOTICS: ON
ROADS: ON
Does this help me?
Could you post the settings for the TPS 1100 using the Allegro. I have been using a 1200 with survce and would like to put the 1102 back in service (using a different Allegro, but the same one that was used with the 1102 the last time it was used) and something must have gotten changed because I can not get the two talking. If I remember the baud rate for the 1100 is 9600 with settings of n,8,1. It is probably has to do with the settings on the 1100 such as geocon, geodata or something.
Thanks
Thanks for the info
ROBOTICS ON is the magic setting. That should enable you to run robotic with your Leica, if you can get the radios figured out.
Mark,
I had a RH1200 that would talk with a very old allegro cx and when I upgraded to an Allegro MX I had to get a RH15 for my TCRP1200
Thanks. I will shop accordingly
Either the Allegro CX or CE will work great as long as they have the radio pod and robotics option. The RM2410 is another Leica radio that works with the Allegros, but the TCPS27 is latest edition. The instrument must be put into "geocomm online mode" to work with Carlson. What's your budget for the upgrade?
I have a spare Allegro CE with Carlson SurvCe 2.62 with
robotics with the rm 2410 radio pod and a new Tcps27
Leica Radio that I will sell if you are interested.
I use it as a backup unit on a TCRA1105
My budget depends on quality of equipment. I could be interested in buying equipment, have to see dealer price first.
