I now have Carlson Survey 2004 loaded on a Win 7 machine in noncomaptbility mode. That means I must give it admin permission when I load it and irt does not hide my new drawings in a hidden place.
today I went to help an engineer with dwg file problems. AutoCAD LDD 2005 loaded in a "program files (X86)" folder. When it is op[en Win & asks if you want to give it permissions, yes being the answer.I figure it might be the same compatibility issues I went through. Not even close.
The engineer created topo lines from 3D points. Well everything but the topo lines disappeared from view. Everything was tried, all layers are on and unlocked and still nothing can be found in the dwg. We re-entered the points to the drawing and as each one appeared the note on the screen said that the point was already there, but there was nothing on the pnts layer but one set.
We are stumped and this engineer is not delivering a final plan tomorrow.

Hmm not sure about that one...
I liked LDD 2009 the best; in my opinion LDD 2009 was the best survey software ever.
Does anyone know if it's still possible to purchase a LDD 2009 license?
I wish you luck, with a 64 bit OS.
Not really the same, but...
I'm running c3d 2010 on vista. Got a basemap from another surveyor who is still using something older (AutoDesk, but prob a version of LDD).
When I brought the drawing up, looked good. Started my own project and over the next few days, noticed the contours would randomly disappear, not to return.
Did some c3d forum digging and it's a known issue in 2010 w/ some older format imports.
I know this isn't much help, but the tried and true, "block it out" and insert solved my problem.
That is, I closed my project (where the contours would also disappear), went back to his basemap and wblock'd a file of only his contours (they aren't intelligent, unfortunately).
Since inserting them into my project, I haven't had the issue. Different, but similar.
Good luck and I know that isn't really an answer.
Instead of opening the drawing start a new drawing in Carlson and just insert the other drawing using the INSERT command.
and if Insert doesn't work try creating a new drawing and then select and copy all the items on the original drawing at base point 0,0 then paste to original coordinates in the new drawing.
