Is there a way to import another dwg file into currently open file in Carlson Survey? I need to import a file with lifework. Every single time when I use the File>Import>Standard Import from the menu...Carlson software opens a new file.
Any ideas? Thank you
Not sure about Intellicad, but with Autocad type insert, browse and navigate to the file.

Read up on AutoCAD blocks and Wblocks in the Carlson Help files. Very powerful tool.
Any other dwg file can be inserted into a Carlson drawing as a block. You will probably want to explode the block after inserting it. That will make it a fully functional part of your current drawing.
you could use xrefs to bring in drawings to view too. Read up on those in the help manual too.
In addition to the methods already mentioned, you can use the cut and paste method.
This is particularly helpful when you don't want to copy the entire contents of a drawing. Under the edit menu you should find the clipboard option. There are several choices with pasting items from the clipboard. If you are working with items that matter where they fall in space (property lines, building foot prints, creeks, etc.) you can use "paste to original coordinates". For items that do not matter where they fall in space, (north arrows, legends, title blocks, etc.) you can paste them anywhere you wish.

I didn't find anything on Wblock; however, I did find a help section on the blocks. I am familiar with my other CAD software call Vectoworks. It that software it is called Symbols.
I read this to understand how the blocks works in Carlson.

This is the exact method I was looking. I was able to do what I wanted per Stacy's suggestion. Then use the "move" and rotate" commands to get the lines where I wanted. Paste to original coordinates--I will remember this next time I do this type of task.

The ALIGN command is also a very good friend. It will move, scale and rotate all at once based on two source points and two destination points. Give it a try.
