I have seen a lot of Navaran's stuff before, so I would not be quite so quick to doubt his statements. He's usually VERY accurate and knows his stuff. When you know most of the short cuts, the trip is never as long. Unless you are following your wife's short cuts, then you will never get there.:-$

Perhaps I misunderstood his 3-4 hour claim -- I thought he was talking about the work that Thad did, taking design plans for a complex highway interchange and creating a complete 3D model from them in that amount of time. That's what I found very hard to believe.

I think if Navaran was given digitized plans he may be able to do it. I'm not sure how thorough he would be.

You seem to be talking at cross purposes here.

My 12D software will also allow me to generate interfaces, tins, etc in a short space of time.

However, that doesn't mean that the client supplied data is at all suitable to 'chuck it into the computer' and start generating flythroughs.

If the setout data is perfect and doesn't require rebuilding/checking, then sure, hours is feasible. If it isn't, then hours can equal days or weeks, depending on how bad the setout data is.

Highway Surface Model Pics - Terramodel?

> I will probably be moving to TBC but I will hold onto TM for a while longer. I know TM well and it is simple to use.

You better get on board. TBC is wayyyy faster than TM, once you get it figured out =)

Highway Surface Model Pics - Terramodel?

I am starting training this weekend. I have a friend and we are going to cross train each other, that way we both learn something new and we don't have to shell out any money!

Highway Surface Model Pics - Terramodel?

I been kicking around with TBC. I can see that it is better but I don't think it is all there yet. I have used TM for years to do it all even the drafting. I can't figure out how to even set plotter line widths in TBC. Is that in there yet?

Hi roadhand

Your model in TBC looks good too... Any chance you may consider posting a link of it on Dropbox ?

I am still building my road models in acces on my tsc3 as I find tbc corridoors a bit daunting to get into and I learn best if I have a detailed example and then kind of take it apart and see how you built it.

No problemn if you can't due to copyright or liability.
