We have 2 1050C plotters that I've always shad this love/hate relationship with.

Idaho Code requires 18"x27" for our Records of Survey and Plats. 3-1/2" border on the left and 1/2" border top, bottom, right.

We have made all the settings for a 36" roll. 18x36 plot, set the margins to work with the half inch border, double checked everything I can think of.

One plotter cuts the mylar at 18-3/8", with the borders set up in the plot style for 1/2". The other cuts at 17-3/4" with the same style for 1/2" borders where the right, left and top borders are correct, but the bottom border is only 1/4" from the plotter cutting too short.:pissed:

Does anyone have any ideas on what I might be missing in the plotter settings?

Assuming you are using AutoCAD go to your page setup and try changing the plot offset by .125 or .25 respectively in the apprpriate x or y axis.

If the plotters are networked so that each workstation prints directly to the plotter without going through a print server, and each plotter behaves as you've described irregardless of which workstation the plot is sent from - I would look at the firmware versions of both plotters and all on board settings to be sure that they are identical. If on the other hand, the plotters are attached to a workstation and shared to the other workstations - I would look at plotter driver versions and check to see if the printable area of your sheet size has been modified in AutoCAD.

Of course you can always plot with larger margins and get out the old xacto blade and straight edge. Don't do this on the light table though...it really pisses off the boss!

The best money we ever spent was on a 48" roller trimmer. Print and trim. All done.

There used to be a setting in HP plotters called EXPANDED PLOT, or something similar.

You turn it on/off with the plotters control panel, or the plotters configuration software. It will give you an extra fraction of an inch.

It sounds just like what you describe.
