Hi all, the Google folks accepted my first model.
41°41'33.99"N
69°56'6.19"W
The next one will be my house, it'll be a little more complex, then my office, even more complex. Now this is somewhere I'd like to see surveyors cash in. GE could be used by the planning community to visualize the current uses and structures. It's easy to add proposed stuff (not to GE, has to be existing, but you can run your own layers in GE).
Don't trust the data for anything real. The model is within 0.1' for all dimensions that I was not too lazy to draw (so I did not add the 2' pilings under the camp). GE requires the model to be at grade and to match the imagery. I did not see any options to add real coordinates to the model. I have this camp located on SPCS, thus I could go Lat/Long without any trouble.
PS, this camp is owned by a very nice lady who just got Conservation Approval last night to put the camp up on pilings. 7 hearings, 2 reviews by the endangered species folks, two site visits by the Commission and 1 legal opinion by Town Counsel.
Very cool! I didn't know you could do that in Google Earth.
it is GIStastic
Google Sketchup?
Yup, sketchup. It seems easy enough, but I have not tried a hard building yet
Wow, that looks like an amazing place to be.
it's amazing, but we're losing it very rapidly
used to be you could drive a truck most of the way down the beach
it was where us locals would get away from the summer tourists
it's called tourist season, then why can't you shoot them?
