I built a Civil 3d surface model in UTM feet and now the client wants the model in meters. I don't know what's the easiest way to get there.

Will the Civil 3d points scale vertically by adding the extra 0 to the scale command

I wonder if it can be done in AutoCAD if its a simple scale? That would same me a 60 mile trip to an engineer's office.

That's one of the nasty thing about scale, it reduces elevations when you don't want it to, so yes, you can reduce them, not sure about elevations on?ÿpoints. I haven't tried it in 2018, but it will reduce the elevation for a poly line or contour lines, and I think?ÿDTM info also. I don't do it often and usually I was trying to get the elevations back where they need to be.

Heck give it a shot, there is always the undo button if it doesn't work

Googling your question gets you instructions to export an xml of your surface, then open a new drawing setup for metric, and import your xml'd surface to it .?ÿ ?ÿ

Make sure to charge enough that they will remember to specify these things in advance next time.

I always tell them to scale the drawing, and that I assume no responsibility for any information that has been altered from my original product. If they pay me to scale it to meters I include a disclaimer that the original work was in feet and that we assume no responsibility for the accuracy of scaled data and all work should be double checked against the original work.

The request begin when they tried to import the drawing into Google earth. They sent me an email asking what coordinate system I was using. The info was in the drawing, but I guess they didn't look. I replied UTM Zone 13, units are feet. Then this morning an engineer sent me a screen shot showing the topo about 300 feet north of its actual location. I opened my drawing, and and listed the coordinate of a point at a bridge corner, converted to meters and pasted the point into Google earth, falls right on the corner.?ÿ

If that's all they want, look into the EXPORTKML command in C3d.?ÿ
