Hi

Anyone using or experience with this Memory Card with built in Wi-Fi to store pictures on a DC, Iphone or Ipad? I'm trying to find out if it will talk to our TSC2 with Trimble Access.

Great concept. But it works only for photos and videos.

All you do is walk into your office where the wifi is setup, then turn on the device using the eye-fi and the files are uploaded to your PC. Works great for photos.

You can also use the hot spot on your smart phone. It will upload the photos in real time as you take them.

Hi

Do you want to take photos and then upload them to your tsc2 so you can tag them to survey points ?, could be a good idea, but would not want the file sizes to be to big, might affect the performance of Trimble access ?

Let me know if you try it

Lee

Not sure if it is worth the effort, I think I may just save a note referring a point number to a particular photo number , but maybe once I try it I will be convinced.

Lee
Another department of the company completed an inventory of about 40 km. of roads on a steel factory.

All hand written notes done by 2 people in a car. The really bad pieces will be renewed but they now need additional pictures of the roads.
I think one surveyor with gps mounted on the car could have done this faster and cheaper with a well setup system. Measuring in 'Continuous Topo' mode, a code from 1 to 5 to indicate the state of the roads will result in colored line work and distances available by just downloading the data. When a picture is needed you stop and switch to a Rapid point and attach/collect the pictures by Eye-Fi. You can as well take a cross section. Almost no notes to take in the field and all data digitally available. Xref and orthofoto and you can almost deliver the next day! I hope we get the opportunity to test this GIS stuff, I think I'll do some testing driving around town.

That sounds interesting, I used to do road re surfacing and rehabilitation assessments and they were a real pain, let me know if you get it working, might even be able to make it a viable commercial option for the engineering companies that do these road assessments professionally.

The losing of lock on the gps may be a problemn on the roads were tree canopy or buildings encroach.
