I've (hopefully successfully) completed the first few legs of a control traverse. I've used SurvCE "Set Collection" to gather the data.
When brought into TraversePC, though, it appears to show an "FSM", meaned record.
If I show the raw data, though, all the BS,F1,F2,B2,B1 records are there.
I'd like to keep the individual observations for LSA adjustment later. So the question is: Does SurvCE mean Set Collection Data without being asked to? Does this parsed raw data file look like it's doing it?
I must be reading something wrong, because it looks like the horizontal distance is longer than the slope distance.
How about posting the actual raw data? That's what I'm used to seeing.

I hope I haven't screwed something up. There's a setting in SurvCE to "display" either the slope distance or horizontal distance, but I thought it only had to do with what shows on the DC. It does look like it's actually measured and downloaded the Slope Distance though. I checked the slope distance to 301 and it is greater than the horizontal distance.
This is the order of the columns in the original screen grab:
I've got to learn how to read these better (a lot better) than I do.

My hand-calc of the mean angle from 101 to 301 is 138.5159, which doesn't quite jive with the 138.5203 shown in your parsed display. Similarly, I get 83.3349 for the mean zenith to 301, while the display shows 83.3352. The slope distances mean as shown in the display.
As can be seen above, the raw data includes all the observation values, and these are meaned and shown as commented SS records. In response to your original question, I believe that SurvCE -- at least in my older version (1.67, I think) -- uses the meaned values in producing coordinates, though I've never actually tested that.
From Memory;
1.67 did, and if you got enough return edm to catch the angle but not enough to get a solid distance it would throw a zero distance in the mix for computing the FS, putting your calc on the correct AZ but only halfway there.

Good Lord! I'm just trying to work out a work flow for getting good, accurate, redundant measurements using a data collector. My field book's looking better and better about now.:-/

See the Carlson website.
>Does SurvCE mean Set Collection Data without being asked to? Does this parsed raw data file look like it's doing it?
SurvCE does not do this in raw data, but it does so in some reports. And the raw data includes the means.
I don't know how the transfer to Traverse PC works, but with StarNet, the conversion routine includes settings for how to handle multiple sets. But a single set (D&R) is always seen as a mean.
Note that raw data is just that, and records the angle at the backsight as well. Just because you zero it at the start doesn't mean it is at zero or 180 at each sighting.

Great link. Thank you.
One thing I've noted in the documents: There is NO Record Type or Header for "meaned" or "average" data.
I'm convinced now that any meaning is NOT being done by SurvCE (a good thing, given what I'm looking for). I've put in an email to TraversePC to see why they're doing it without being asked to, and what they're doing with the data.

Perhaps your version of SurvCE handles things differently from mine, but in mine it uses the SS record to store meaned set values in the RW5.

Again, there may be differences between versions, but I just checked some data in my data collector, and it is, indeed, using the meaned set values to propagate coordinates.
