My DC is an old allegro unit. Old enough that the lcd is no longer readable in sunlight. I am not knowledgeable in license of dc software.
Can you get a new dc & transfer the software to it?How is it done?It is an old unit I got from another surveyor who is no longer around
so cd & papers are not available.
I've never had any issues with Carlson nor Microsurvey DC products and transferring to new device or reinstalling after a clean sweep of existing.
But with your historical purchase suggest contact a vendor.
I imagine you can access the licence /ID on the Allegro.
I bought SurveCE with my MX from another surveyor, but have the papers.
I upgraded to GPS in process. Carlson were very good.
Not sure what software you have. Others may treat you differently.
If you didn't buy the license originally, I am not sure they'll let you transfer it. You'd have to ask them...
Why not replace the screen?
Otherwise, dc software licenses are usually tied to a specific, individual, hardware unit. There is never a CD. You might be able to get some sort of trade in credit for it on a new dc.

What Mark said. Depending on the model you can find the whole unit on Ebay if you can't find just a replacement screen. Take just the screen and keep the rest for parts.

So while I was looking for installation files on the DC this morning....guess what? The screen died on me completely. Thought it was a battery drain, plug in the charger still nothing on the screen.
what happens if you plug into USB on your computer?
Does Windows find the device?
Richard,
connection is via bluetooth, never could get the unit to talk to a win 7/xp laptop via the USB-Serial cable. always looking for the driver, and I thought most drivers are automatically installed in win 7.
