I am a new intellicad user and I am setting up everything for F2F for my new employer.?ÿ I think I have figured most of it out, but I am having issues finding the correct linetypes for standard land surveying.?ÿ When I am in the field code library it looks like standard utility lines are available ( --E--, etc).?ÿ Yet when I process it the line comes in as individual entities, like it was exploded.?ÿ Each - and E are their own block.?ÿ I am not sure why this is.?ÿ And yet I cant find any information anywhere about how to make a linetype.?ÿ I do not know the syntex for creating a line, nor the Intellicad have a "Make Linetype" command (this is the first AutoCAD command that I have not been able to find in Intellicad).?ÿ So I am asking if anyone knows how to do this in Intellicad, or better yet, does anyone have a standard surveying Linetype Library I could use??ÿ Intellicad uses all the same file extensions, so it will read any AutoCAD Linetype library.?ÿ Thanks

In Texas we have used a specific linetype for Headright boundaries from like day one.

It is a line that has 3 short dash to every several inches of unbroken line.

My son used a utility in Carlson program to create me that linetype.

From what he said, it was possible to create most any type of line that your keyboard can create graphics.

A few points:

  • Intellicad by itself won't do F2F, so it would be helpful to know what third party software you are using.?ÿ I'm assuming it's Carlson.
  • I don't think that you will find a "standard" linetype file for surveying.?ÿ Having started my career in Houston, I hate the use of letters within linetypes, but can still tell you when looking at a City of Houston drawing what type of utility a line is by the number of dashes and the spacing of the dashes.
  • Intellicad uses a .lin file for linetypes, the same as AutoCAD.?ÿ Do a search for *.lin and you will find a file.
  • It's not that hard to write linetype definitions. If need be, I can walk you through it.?ÿ If you are using Carlson, then you won't need to do this, but it's always nice to learn.
