@norman-oklahoma Beg to differ, that was a copy and paste straight from my Civi3d 2023 command line.

@steinhoff I experimented with several different ways today. I found that ddunits was impact on ddinsert or even coly paste . I learned how to select a line that originates from tbc and list. I am sure yall know this but i am learning. Anyway even if civil 3d actually list that line as U.S. survey foot it was shifting it 30 feet. And the end of the line coordinates match the same point coordinates I brought in separately but everything was shifted. I was scratching my head a lot. But i did finally get me a routine that works. But geezers it truly should not be that difficult to fix auto cad to have one spot to set the units. I am still trying to figure out why auto cad is trying to scale when a datum and coordinate system are chosen. Its as if it assumes the poly lines or other lines are ground distances and needs tk scale a little.

Do you really need to select a datum and coordinate system though? We generally don't- our engineers sometimes do so they can bring in various types of "other" data but lord knows if they're borking it or not...

@steinhoff well i am asking myself that same question. If its a plat or put on paper thats one thing. But if our data is going somewhere like this job and they request it then yes I need to make sure its correct. That means its on the correct datum and projection. Coordinates are not always just coordinates when on a mapping projection. We can lie to ourselves when we print out the drawings on paper but data doesn’t lie. Today I reverse engineered a problem not in cad. I was finally sent how it was originally done which i had about pin pointed. Job was done in nad 83 then scaled to ground the Trimble way one point. Then the client wanted everything in nad 27 way before I arrived. So they tried to convert to nad 27 from the scaled nad 83 points follow me. Then scaled those to ground because they must be grid. I have a crew go out he measures everything in nad 83 I started trying to figure out what it all was and all i had originally was nad 27 as stated they were scaled from transformed scaled nad 83. Meta data is important. So is for my brain to make sure my data is correct in this cad stuff. Lol. I can’t wait till I figure this cad thing out completely but it might be the way the software works.
