Do you have the save as option under the file drop down menu? If you do, you can choose to do a save as, and in the file types, choose an older version of AutoCAD to save as. Mine has several previous choices to choose from.

You run C3D2010 and got a drawing that is C3D2016? I believe you can download AutoCAD DWG TrueView and use it's conversion tool. It may blow out any "smart" stuff like surfaces or alignments though. Probably need to receive the drawing with all the TIN lines on and displayed, as well as the points. Not 100%, but a place to start quickly.

My $0.02

Stay away from "save as" when trying to go between versions. Use "export" because "export" converts C3d objects to a BLOCK which all versions of AutoCAD accept. Doing a "save as" (especially multiple iterations) causes file size ballooning and over time can corrupt the file.
