I have survey data containing attributes that I would like to import into Civil 3D 2018 using the raw data. I know how to import the information using a .txt or .csv, but I can't seem to figure out how to utilize the raw data and get the same results. From what I can see, using Fieldbooks in Civil 3D does not work.
I also have use of Calson Survey 2017 (although not real familiar with it) if it helps.
Thanks.

Google "C3d Traverse Editor". Lots of stuff there. Then google "Microsurvey StarNet" to see something that works.

Why do you say that fieldbooks do not work? It might help to know what kind of data collector you are using.

Fieldbook files only work when importing points into a survey database. You are most likely only familiar with importing generic cogo points directly into the drawing not importing survey points into the survey database. Too long of an explanation for me to tackle at the moment but if nobody else chimes in with an explanation by the time I can get to it I'll walk you through it.

I need to read up on the survey database thing too. I don't know what's special about it or why one would use it other than when I import a text file at work the linework isn't drawn unless I import it to a survey database.

The survey database allows you to share survey data easily between multiple drawings that rely on that data. It also gives you an added layer of protection from data loss similar to the project points/drawing points paradigm from land desktop. The survey database is where network analysis and adjustments are done, and as you have identified it is where the F2F happens. All of that being said autodesk has left themselves plenty of room to improve the functionality of this part of c3D. Most of the traverse/network adjustment and entry procedures date back to LDD (and Softdesk) and have not changed much if at all since they were first developed by Softdesk. Dig in if you have any questions post them here and I'll try to help out if I can.
