I am curious if anyone else is having trouble with Carlson2023 and 3d pline elevations. I've got a tech support issue filed with Carlson, so they are looking into it, but the technician seemed to be unable to replicate the issue the first time I contacted about it.

I have Carlson2023 installed on AutoCAD2023 on a Win10 computer. When I run Field to Finish on survey points, everything looks fine. As soon as I execute QSAVE or SAVEAS, all the 3d pline vertices at the survey points drop to zero elevation. The interpolated vertices keep their elevations. Its baffling to me how saving the drawing would cause the z-values to change. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Sticking with 2022 software version until Carlson figures this out.

Note to self:  Never upgrade until it's forced upon me with a change in dwg format

Not a Carlson user, but have you tried locking the layer(s) of the 3d polyline prior to doing a save?

On another note, does Carlson have a command where you can have the 3d polyline inherit the surface elevations for the vertices, assuming a surface has already been created?

No, I didn't try locking the layer first. I did try "Remove XDATA" and "Remove Reactors" before saving, and that didn't help.

Yes, Carlson has a couple of routines for mapping surface elevations to 3d polyline vertices from a surface. I was only at the processing of survey data stage. Need those 3d plines for my breaklines to build the surface.

Anyway, Carlson sent me a software patch yesterday to try out. It did not fix the issue. I'm surprised nobody else on here has encountered this problem. Another guy in my office also had this problem. I checked with him before emailing Carlson, just in case I was an extra-special situation.

I have not run into this in 2023 running on top of Intellicad 10.1 or Civil3d 2023.    I assume you hae sent them your dwg file with crd and settings configuration.  Hopefully they can find the issue.
