Has anyone gotten the new option to attach an image to a point to work? You can click on Edit Point Attributes and click on a point, and one of the tabs says you can attach an image file. Select the file, click ok. Repeat, and it says there's no image attached. Support says they can't get it to work either. It would be a cool feature.

I've used the hyperlink in the general properties dialog in standard AutoCAD to link any mapped entity. Then cntrl -> select will bring up the linked object.

What type of image (e.g. BMP, JPG, PNG, etc) are you trying to use? I was able to attach a JPG image to a point but the routine did not seem to save a PNG image (but it did after I added a JPG image, this has been reported to programming). In case it helps, you could try Bulk Image Converter to save your image(s) into an alternative image format.

Also, what is the structure of your active coordinate file (e.g. Numeric-only CRD, Alpha-numeric CRD, SQL-based CRDB)?

Converting images of linework to JPG is NOT advisable. The JPG format is a lossy format and images converted to JPG will display artifacts (lost lighter pixels close to the original). To sum it up, the JPG format is great for photos but terrible for linework.

I agree 100% that PNG is (IMHO) a superior file format to that of JPG for the reason cited. In my follow-up testing, I've not been able to consistently reproduce my earlier success with the command (regardless of the image file-type). I'll keep experimenting.

Hi Ladd,

They're JPG photos of survey caps at those points. I use alpha numeric CRD. Support said to keep using Attach Image in the GIS pulldown, which I've been doing for a few years. It works.
