In CS 2012, if I double-clicked a dwg in windows explorer, it opened the dwg in a new window. Now it opens it in the existing window.

Anyone know how to change that, so each dwg opens in its own window?

This is actually an Autocad setting.

Command: Taskbar

Setting:
0 (One Window)
1 (Multiple Windows)

That command doesn't work for me in Carlson Survey 2015.

I tried looking it up under Help, and it didn't get any hits.

Thanks anyway.

It won't work if it's the OEM version. There are many native AutoCad commands/settings that won't work in the 'stand alone' version of Carlson.

I have Carlson 2015 OEM. When I double click on a file in Windows Explorer, the drawing opens just fine. (It's in a different window because I have omnly one monitor) When I close the drawing, I am back in Explorer.
On the office pooter with 2 monitors, when I do this, the dwg opens on monitor 1 and explorer stays open on monitor 2.
Oh, Euclid, let me revise your statement a bit. There are many native AutoCAD commands that are not on the pull down menus or the tool bars, BUT, if you know what to type on the command line, MANY of those commands will indeed work.
I know that when you were little Momma said, "Don't play with it!!", but that rule does not apply to figuring out cad packages.

Try typing the command: varedit
I think it worked in Carlson OEM ... and that should be something saved in the main ini file

Dent is correct on there being a plethora of AutoCAD commands "hidden" in the program.
I once download a AutoCAD LT manual and went through the commands typing each into the command line to see which ones would work...you would be surprised...

Oh, I'm aware that Carlson doesn't have everything that C3D or the full-blown ACAD program has. I keep hearing it every other day from the CAD manager who wants me to switch over.
