I'm having two issues.
First, when I tag a portion of an arc, the resulting bearing in the curve table always assumes that I'm going counter-clockwise around the arc.?ÿ I've tried every setting and every combination of order of selecting the points to define the arc.?ÿ The results are always the same.
Second, there's a handy tool under Annotate-Flip Labels-Switch Bearing/Azimuth Quadrant that allows me to switch the direction of any bearing.?ÿ It also works great in curve and line tables.?ÿ My only issue is that if I later need to add additional labels to the table, the labels revert to their original direction.
A solution to either of these would be a godsend.
Yes, I know that 50% of you are thinking it's my own fault for daring to use a dirty nasty curve table in the first place.?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ ?????ÿ
Carlson is default to assume you are inputting points in a counterclockwise direction, some aftermatter of Acad.
Somewhere in the setup menu this can be changed.
Will post when I find it................
settings, units control, there is a box "clockwise" make sure it is checked!
Always edit your polyline and make it go in the direction you desire and all your labels will come out correctly.
You can also edit your table values.?ÿ
@marcus-md @just-a-surveyor This only happens when I need to label a portion of an arc.?ÿ For example, on a subdivision plat I'll have a lot where the entire road frontage is an arc.?ÿ I'll label the entire arc and the bearing will run toward the end of the arc that I clicked on.?ÿ Then I'll label a portion of the arc to show where an easement intersects with the front property line.?ÿ To label a portion of the arc with a curve table tag you have to select start point, radius point, and end point to define the arc.?ÿ No mater which end of the curve I select first or which direction the curve was drawn originally has any effect on the bearing direction.....they always come out counter-clockwise.?ÿ Even checking the clockwise option that Markus-md mentioned does not change the outcome.
Below is a screenshot of an example.?ÿ C1 was labeled by selecting the north corner, the radius point, then the point where the dashed line intersects with the arc yet the bearing runs NW.?ÿ If I edit the table then add additional lines to the table, C1 will revert to NW again.
Yeah, I experience that as well and I simply edit the table values. Not ideal but unless you want to break the line or arc that is about your only choice.
I've learned in Carlson that your best friend is to go through the trouble to set it all up one time and use Auto Annotate.?ÿ
Keep separate parcels as complete close polylines (even if you freeze that layer and use another for boundary line presentation (clipping inside symbols, etc).
I'd rather delete a handful of duplicate annotations and know that everything works perfectly together.?ÿ This approach also allows to make nice use of the legal description writer.
In Bearings - NW=SE ; NE=SW;?ÿ Surveyors know it, Let everyone else figure it out. Don't loose sleep over it.
Your map is OK if a bearing is labeled opposite direction contrary to your Legal Description.?ÿ That's what the North arrow is for.
@erwsdot?ÿ I prefer to have them all running the correct direction, but the local reviewers are sticklers for it.?ÿ I'm just frustrated that it has become a game of Whack-a-Mole where every time I make an edit to the curve or line table I have to recheck to be sure that all the previous bearings with reversed directions are still flipped the correct direction.
@plumb-bill Your suggestion of using closed polylines for everything might be a good solution but I foresee edits being a pain with all the double line work of easements overlaying lot lines. May give it a shot on the next big map.

maybe File > Drawing Utilities > Remove Reactors applied to your table will be of help?
Bearing in mind that the table will not automatically update if you change any of the lines or curves.
