So I'm having some trouble editing a 2D pline to snap to a point's node. For some reason when I Continue a 2D pline and enter the point number I want the line to snap to, instead it snaps to another line about 5' away from the node. I don't have Ortho on and I've checked my Osnap settings and I'm kind of spinning around in circles. I should be able to snap the line to the node, but won't allow me to. Any ideas on what I might have gobbed up somewhere? It seems to only be happening in the editing mode.
I will master Carlson Survey if only through brute force of will and blind rage.
Thanks
I have had trouble with Intellicad turning all snaps on, or maybe I've done it by accident somehow.?ÿ It's happened multiple times, and results in snapping to unintended objects.?ÿ Have to turn off all snaps, then use selected snaps (I use wheel as button for popup menu with snaps) HTH
@learner Will give that a go. Appreciate the suggestion. Cheers
similar but not as painful.....
I just started 3 weeks of Open roads designer....
you got this!
Carlson's tech support is superb! They will have you fixed in no time!?ÿ
I'm betting that you have your points set to insert at real-z.?ÿ 2-D polylines act weird when you try to snap them to entities with elevations.
?ÿ
@stephen-ward Nope. I??ve intentionally avoided checking that box. It??s really rather odd as I will have just one point in a hundred do this when I draw a 2D plane to it and I have to grab the line vertice and drag it over to the point node. Just weird.?ÿ
@williwaw Any chance that points have been moved in the drawing but not updated in the coordinate file??ÿ Snap a line to the point node on screen and check the coordinates of the line end point against the values for that point when you list its coordinates from the coordinate file.
@stephen-ward No. These are fresh points followed up with drawing line work to them and afterwards linking. The line won??t connect to the point node even though it??s being drawn using the point numbers. Most will work fine and then suddenly one will snap some short distance away from the node and I have to drag it over to make it connect. I think it??s just an odd bug, like when using Visual Cogo, if a point number has already been used, rather than advance to the next available point in that range, it will advance ahead to the next to last in the database which might be a couple thousand ahead. There??s a few bugs I have found that require extra work and diligence to get around. ?ÿ
This is a real shot in the dark, but B Bob & C Dent & Tech Support helped me with some wonky Carlson software behavior with the following tips:
(B Bob): ?ÿNot sure if this is the exact same?ÿproblem you are seeing, but I posted this long?ÿago.
https://surveyorconnect.com/community/software-cad-mapping/carlson-f2f-not-drawing-all-3d-polylines/
(C Dent): Ladd is probably correct, but I have noticed that?ÿwhen my F2F starts going stupid what I need to?ÿdo is delete file fld2fin.ini.
Look for it under the?ÿCarlson directory under (USERS/YOURNAME/APPDATA/ROAMING/CARLSON
SOFTWARE/CARLSON SURVEY
20**/R****/ENU/USER.)
That file can get corrupted. Erase it. it will rebuild?ÿwhen you open the next drawing, so no harm is?ÿdone in erasing it.
(B Ott Edit): ?ÿI will post the Tech Support advice too when I get in front of my PC. ?ÿI seem to recall that there were a couple more files to be deleted or renamed. ?ÿPlease stay tuned...
...EDIT from my PC:
Brad,
For the F2F issue, please follow these steps:
1. Browse to the following folder
C:UsersYour User NameAppData*RoamingCarlson SoftwareCarlson2021ICAD10_X64USER
2. Rename the following files
(Ex: rename "test.ini" to "test-OLD.ini"):
-flg2fin.ini
-getfile.xml
-temp.txt
-tmp.fld
*If you can not see the AppData folder, in Windows File Explorer, click the View tab along the top and toggle ON the options for "File name extension" and "Hidden items".
Let me know if you still see this issue.
Send a new email for the other issue, as I do not believe it is related to this one. In the new email, please include the Version/CAD/Build, file (.tri file) and which version the file was created in originally.
Thank you,
Tech Support
