Is there an equivalent to "NCOPY" (NESTED COPY) in Carlson?

Thanks.

To my knowledge, there is not a direct equivalent. I'll forward on the command request into the Carlson programming team and will report back if there is an alternative solution.

Ok, I'll bite. What the heck is Nested Copy and in what circumstances would it be useful?

ncopy is an express tool that allows you to select an entity in a block or xref that you want, independent of its source, in your current drawing.

@ Larry
If you have a large multi-disciplinary DWG with thousands of layers and multiple x-refs, it's a handy tool to help cull out what you want to work with.

Thanks Ladd!

As it turns out, Express Tools aren't available for the "Embedded ACAD" (OEM) product. In place of the NCOPY express tool, you can open the source drawing and utilize the Edit -- Clipboard commands and paste the Clipboard contents into the destination drawing.

Interesting. That does sound useful in certain circumstances.

Sometimes just finding the source is an issue if the DWG is a convoluted mess. You can spend hours sorting out what is what. NCOPY alleviates that sorting. You see an entity you would like to work with and copy it to YOUR base DWG, instead of going back to the source DWG and trying to figure out what layer it is on of even what the source DWG is.

Don't get me started on electronic files from others...

Thanks for the input Ladd!
