I've defined a centerline alignment & stationed it. Now, I'd like to draw the boundaries of several appropriations, the limits of which are described by sta. & os., without creating points and then connecting the dots.

There was a nifty command to do this in LDD, but I can't find it in Carlson. Am I missing something, or is there no such animal? If not, well, it would be a swell addition to a future version.........

There isn't an ability to do that yet. I have wanted that since I was using the software over 12 years ago. I can do that all day long in C3D. It is a very useful command to add. I'm using Carlson on a daily basis, and it's very frustrating having to place nodes or points to then play dot to dot.

Can you provide me with the name of the command in LDD and/or provide me with a sample data set of the type of data you have to work with? I'll see what I can do to assist.

Ladd,

In LDD 2000r, it's under the "Lines/Curves" menu as "Line by Station/Offset"

After defining an alignment and setting it as current, like say from Sta.2+50 at Az. 45° to Sta. 4+25, thence at Az. 135° to Sta.9+00, etc., one then enters Sta. & O/S values for the endpoints of the segments;

Sta. O/S
2+85 33' rt.
3+65 50' rt.
Etc. etc.

and the software draws the lines in the appropriate locations.

Thanks for responding, Ladd!

I'm not sure for whom you're a bigger asset, your employer or us Beer-leggers, but you're a peach in any case (even if the programmers back at the batcave don't add this routine).

Check to see if the Draw -- 2D Polyline routine will get you what you need:

When you hit the Command line aspect of the routine, you'll want to enter:

>[Continue/Extend/Follow/Offset/OPtions/]: o
>
>CL File/: c (pick your CL file)
>
>[Exit/]: 285
>
>[Exit/]: 33
>
>[Exit/Undo/]: 365
>
>[Exit/Undo/]: 50
>
>Segment length: 81.79, Total length: 81.79
>[Exit/Undo/]: e

I hope this helps.
