Hi,
Is anyone using Carlson Point Cloud for ther post-processing treatment of PC? On the laserscanning forum there isn't much or any response to my questions about this module.
Not much info on the Carlson website either.
I have a demo set up with Rob v Etten from EMEA but am looking for answers and opinions here.
I want to use it for linework treatment, no ortophotos, building or piping. I have other sofwares for those.

Hello.
I use Carlson point cloud for extraction from static and mobile. I use my fld2fin codes for likework and point t generation. It has come a long way in the past year as they have a brilliant young programmer adding features constantly.
They have 3 engines and the newest is 3dtk which is working very well. There are still options to be added but I would not hesitate to support it. Feel free to contact me.

It's strange because on the webpage from Carlson they are talking about the 2012 version. No webinar or other info has being posted since. I find it strange that there's nobody that seems to use this nevertheless a lot of other Carlson users on this board.
Are you running it in an Intellicad or in an Autocad-environment? Which spec's does your pc have?
What about update-costs? Is this a yearly percentage?
Which other software do you use? Which software do you import from?
Greetings,
Lieven
We have FARO Scene with the FARO x330 plus ScanLook (LiDARUSA) to process the FARO in helical mode with the Velodyne HD32e for our mobile efforts.
I have not tried FARO Scene's ability to control CAD. Looked funky.
I am running CarlsonPC w/ intelliCAD on an i7, 4 core, 2.9ghz w/ 8gb ram, SSD, laptop. It was a refurbished model I purchased to try out Windows 10, but I started becoming productive at home and am still on Windows 7.
At the office I run on a 4.0ghz, 8 core AMD w/ 16gb ram, SSD and decent video card with Civil3d and CarlsonPC running on Windows 7.
I also run Quick Terrain Modeler, [REDACTED], a co worker is running C3D TopoDot w/ Microstation Power Survey.
I tried Civil3d's cloud but quickly ran. I need to upgrade my Arc to 10.3 and try out the clouds there.
I have made some projection models of degraded coastal banks with Carlson and DXF2TXT.
As far as Carlson, they are doing their best to keep a foot in the game but they have not made a full leap into it. This is much like the surveying community - how many surveyors are ready to leap to scanners? The surveyors near me all tell me good luck and they are too old to make the leap.
Have you had the demo yet?
