I am in the process of working on a drawing, and am trying to use the F2F option in Carlson.
I am new to the F2F, and the last drawin that I created, the F2F worked pretty good. On this drawing, I am having a problem with duplicate points at the same location. I have tried checking all the options for erase previous entities.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am trying ot get this drawing done and out the door tomorrow morning.
Thanks
How are you bringing in the points??
Strictly by F2F? If so, checking the F2F set-up box that says "erase existing field to finish entities" should be getting rid of the points too.
Try this, run F2F to bring in points, symbols and lines. Then erase all of the points. (If this erases all of your symbols, run F2F again and rthis time just do the symbols and linework.) Then bring in your points via "Draw/Locate points".
If you have double codes on points (like RF F in mine would be Rod Found Fence -or- A O would be Asphalt [edge] and Overhead [utility]), you might get double points on top of each other. I have this problem, I end up just having to turn off the offending layers. It can be a pain, but it has to be done. If you don't already have a dedicated layer for the F2F code in your template, you will have one in your drawing that you just ran the F2F for. It usually creates 5 layers per code (Number, Desc, Elevation, Symbol and something else). Make sure you get that little center point layer turned off too, that one will leave little "dots" all over your drawing if it is a topo.
Hope this helped.
Carl
Thanks for the tips guys.
I think I am cooking with oil.
sometimes, I have to go to erase points and erase the points from the drawing but NOT from the crd file, this gets rid of the duplicates
Click
Split no multiple codes
That works for me
Splitting multiple codes is a VERY powerful tool that does not create additional points on my set-up. The key is to link your points to the linework and the crd file in the points set-up. Multiple codes come in hany when drawing overhead utilities and the associate poles.
And to get rid of all those annoying points that stay behind along the lines, set PDMODE to zero.
Carl,
Those extra layers per point that you are getting may be because you have selected separate attributes for your points. Look under your edit field code settings. On the left side is a selector that say "Separate Attribute Layers". Set that to "NONE" and the extra layers may go away. If you intend to separate the attribute layers, hit the set button and assign those attributes to an existing layer and the "extra' ones should go away the next time you use F2F.
