I'm sure this is more an AutoCAD issue and not Carlson one, but when I write a PDF from a DWG, it makes that DWG file "archive only". Then I have to change the name in order to work with that drawing anymore.
Any idea of a fix, or work around. Its a real PITA.
Thanks
instead of writing it to a pdf, use a program like cutepdf or pdf995 (both free) and set them up as a plotter..
There's no need for anyother software. This is probably an Adobe PDF setting that needs to be changed. There are 3 pdf options, Adobe PDF, Adobe PDF.pc3 and Dwg to PDF.pc3. The last one is the one I generally use. Once you have selected whatever one you want to use, click on the PROPERTIES radio button to the right of the selection window and cruise through all of the settings. You should find a selection that tells it to archive the PDF. (I am on 2010 and do not have this problem.) Uncheck the option that is causing you grief and truck on.
Check to be sure that it is not set up to apply electronic signatures to the drawing. I've been trying to get ready for electronic signatures (TN is changing the rule soon). I remembering seeing a note in the AutoCAD help topics on electronic signatures that once the drawing has been electronically signed that there's not a way to remove the signature. I believe that exporting to dxf or a saveas were the recommended solutions to remove an electronic signature.
I agree. Just download one of the free programs and move on. I like PDF reDirect.
