Anyone ever dismantle an HP48GX?
I have keys that are sticking or not working at all.?ÿ I think they are all gunked up and in need of cleaning.
Nobody seems to repair calculators anymore since they are so cheap to replace.
Yes. Maybe not successfully though. Was able to glue it back together again (looked as bad as that sounds)
The two halves to the outer shell are supported internally by a number of plastic posts that are either hot-welded, or glued, between the two halves.?ÿ
When you begin to pry the two halves apart at the seam, the internal posts offer significant resistance, and you can bend the shells.
If there's a way to successfully separate the two halves, I don't know what that is.
I've used this guy for repairs before with good results.
I had planned on retiring when my last HP41 died. Looks like I will never be able to retire now.
Thanks David for that link. I have one I need to send in.
A can of this is pricey and it works great for cleaning electronics.
Be sure to take all batteries out, even the button batteries if the device has one for backup.
ECG RX3200 Electronics Wash
Use in well ventilated space and avoid anything that could cause spark, highly and extreemly flameable.
Wear a dust mask and do not inhale or taste the product, do not get in eyes.
Spray it on to flush and clean and it will evaporate quickly.
I got a 10oz can 5yrs ago for $15 and have cleaned half a dozen motherboards, keyboards, calculators, remote control, phones, light and other connections on ATV and lawnmower and the can still feels full.
No contacts, if you want the same machine, with a survey pro card, input or enter button is busted, pm.?ÿ
