I have often times created customized point groups on a job by job basis based on the needs of that particular survey. For example, normally I don't survey trees, but occasionally I do. Is there a way to export certain point group definitions from an old job into a new one? I know I could add all this to the template, but I don't always want 4 million point groups in every survey.

I think that also exports the points. It seems to export the points in that group along with the point group definition, which is cool, but I don't want the points, just the styles and other settings from the group.
Open both the old file and the new file at the same time. At the top of the Toolspace dialog, select the "Active Drawing View" drop down box and select "Master View." In the tree diagram below it, select prospector branches to the open drawing and its point group list. Select the group desired, and while holding the left mouse button, drag onto the target drawing. The Group, with its style and parameter settings will import into the drawing, but not the points themselves. You can also 'drag-and-drop' object (feature lines, parcels, figures, points, etc.) styles, and label styles.

Cool! Thanks!
Maybe I will just do that to the template drawing then send those seldom used groups to the bottom of the list.
