Anyone,

Using AutoCad 2014/Carlson Survey 2014

Not able to get the following features to work as before (when I was using AutoCad 2013):

1-Object snap won't "snap"

2-Mouse won't pan

3-File select dialog box won't open

Object Snap: With this feature turned "On", with (example) "Endpoint" selected, the pointer will not snap.

Mouse: Using a Logitech wheelmouse, when pressing the wheel the AutoCad pan does not work (ie the small "hand") doesn't appear, and there is no panning ability (other than going to the drop down menu).

File select: Select "File", then "Open". The command line is then waiting for you to enter the entire file name string, rather than simply oprning a dialog box which allows you to select the drawing from a list of drawings.

Not a power user, but have used AutoCad since AutoCad 12. Never had these problems.

Any help in figuring out what settings need to be tweaked will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
ibenhavin

It sounds like mbuttonpan and filedia settings have changed. Type filedia, enter, 1, enter. That should get the file dialogue box back. Do the same for mbuttonpan and it may get the wheel working again. ..

Appreciate the help.

Did the trick re the file dialog box. So far, pan and snap, not so much.

Well, the snap works...just a bit different from what I had always seen before. Now, the tiny pick box turns itself into a big 'ol square box, and as long as the snap location fits somewhere inside the square box it will snap to the desired location. Don't know if this is a change due to AutoCAD 2014(?). Would rather have the old method back, but it works.

Thanks again.

IBH,

Type OPTIONS, and you'll find a world of settings:

Your Mouse Pan problem is a Windows Thing. You might have to download the Logitech Driver to play with its settings.

Thanks much.

Rather than pickbox size, or rather the aperture size, my problem was just with the aperture appearing at all. I have never bothered with the setting in the past (default had always been good), but I just discovered the following:

Under Options/Drafting, there is a choice to turn on or off "Display AutoSnap aperture box". I turned this to "off". Now, the object snap works as before.

Pan still doesn't work.

Thanks RFB,
I couldn't locate those settings. However, I did connect a different wheel mouse, and the pan is now working. Guess it was the mouse drivers.
