Creighton Fee was a giant in the NY surveying world. A land surveyor for fifty years, a teacher and professor for forty years and driving force behind the State Association, his intellect, his comaraderie, his friendship and his sense of humor were well known to surveyors in New York and the surrounding states.
In addition to his private practice, he taught at Paul Smith's College, one of the few schools in New York state to teach land surveying, and he was a charter member of the NY State Association.
His tireless efforts to teach and to organize professional land surveyors will not be forgotten by those who knew him, and those who were taught by him.
Creighton was a giant of a man, it is an honor to have known him and to be able to consider him as a friend.
I met him several times, always the gentleman and almost always in the company of a Smitty's alum.
Rest in Peace.

RIP
I feel privileged to have been a student of Creighton's, a most honorable professor at Paul Smith's College.
Creighton had a sign on his office that said
"Surveying, the second oldest profession".
I remember a fellow student misreading it and said to Creighton "I thought you were the oldest professor, not second."
Creighton's reply. "Just shut up and keep chewing your gum, Chum".
That was in 1990 at Paul Smith's. We had a graduating class of 8 surveying students.
Creighton's daily quizzes were either pass or fail, you either got a 100% or a 0% for a grade. This is much like real life surveying, you get no partial credit for failed work, so you better check it twice. Surveying is a system of check's and balances.
