We need to sub out a small laser scan and I was asked what it would cost-ballpark figure only. Probably one setup as area is only 3,000 sf or so.?ÿ It's open, edge of a small pond with a small earthen dam at its end.?ÿ Deliverable would be hard copy and AutoCAD.

Deliverable would be hard copy and AutoCAD.

Need to pump that up a little. Do you mean a map with contours? Typical product from a scanning job would be a point cloud. A lot of times that is the sole deliverable.?ÿ And who will be supplying control?

?ÿ

I would supply control.?ÿ Frankly I'm at a loss as to why they requested a "3-D Laser Scan" instead of a topographic survey (we're going to try and talk them out if it).?ÿ I think they just want a very detailed survey but I want to be able to have a number in mind for a scan.

if the deliverable is 2D autocad then it would be overkill. Using a laser scanner will not be just plonk down 1 position and see everything. It may require a few more setups like a total station to cover the blindspot areas. The scanning on site is typically quick, however the processing and cleaning is what consumes time. I have no idea what is the going rates for your area but hope this clarifies some details for you.
