Our Civil Aviation Authority (==FAA) have some concerns about drone usage.

A part of your world meshed with my world the other day. Local paper had an obituary for a 92 year-old lady who was born and raised in Auckland. During WW II she met a charming US soldier. Spent the rest of her life not far from where I live. I know her oldest daughter and her family quite well. I will admit, though, that after meeting the mother many years ago, I thought she was from Australia. Sorry about that. I realize that's probably not viewed as a good thing by New Zealanders.

A large number of American servicemen had R&R from the Pacific campaigns in NZ.

They were like a breath of fresh air to this isolated little back-water and they worked their charms on the women-folk. There were quite a number of war-brides, and others who re-united after the armistice.

The GI's weren't so popular with the men folk - "over paid, over sexed and over here" was a common complaint.
