Came upon two articles at PhoneScoop today, both of interest to wireless and GPS users.
AT&T Gives Up on T-Mobile. I am a T-Mobile customer and in a way glad to see this happen, BUT I am not sure that T-Mobile is viable long term either 🙁
LightSquared's Cash Reserves Drying Up. Without new cash, LSQ seems to be on life support with less than six months to live.

IPO coming soon, contact your broker!;-)
Have a great week.
T-Mobil, bummer
Other one, how does that old saying go?
Am laughing on the outside, but laughing even harder on the inside.
After LightSquared tanks, I will certainly miss.....
Maybe they'll have to move to Hooterville when this is over...
"Faaaaarm Livin is the life for me,
Laand spreadin out so far and wide...
Keep Manhattan and give me that countrysiide!"
After LightSquared tanks, I will certainly miss.....
They didn't call it LightSquareD for nothing you know....

If anyone gets POB mag anymore there is a fold out add that explains how you can get a fix for your old equipment for between 3 and 8 hundred dollars...so cool because they explain how they used "4 different methods" blah, blah!!! AND the whole sentence of 12 words has NO spaces between the words!!! Now what is really neat is my 7 year old grandson emailed me the other night, and there were no spaces either!! Maybe he has a future in advertising...even with the yellow highlighted words they didn't catch the screw up. Now inside the fold out is a whole bunch of real BS with all kinds of graphs, and I'm so glad to know he exlpained it all to NASA, DoD, Air Force, academia, and several GPS manufacturers...and no questions remained unanswered!!!

Does it explain who will be writing this 800 check (per unit, I assume)? Javad or Lightsquared?
5 Locus, 4 Stratus, 2 Hipers .... Seems like that could get expensive ...
After LightSquared tanks, I will certainly miss.....
I think I missed something because in scanning the foldout 2 times, I don't find where Javad is claiming that they can retrofit other manufacturer's GPS receivers.
The last sentences under "Highlights":
"All we ship today are LightSquared compatible or eligible for free retrofit. We also offer to retrofit our existing receivers with the price of $300 to $800, depending on the model."
What happened to LightSquared's $0.10 filters?
Also, I don't understand this Highlight: "We assumed LightSquared towers would transmit 0.1 milliwatt of power. This is higher than the maximum power that might ever been seen [sic] next to a LightSquared transmitting tower."
It was my understanding that LightSquared was planning for towers operating at 15,000 watts. That's a LOT more than 0.1 milliwatt.

I think what they mean are Javad units in existence, for the 3 to 8 fix, depending on the unit...now the rest is just malarky, and all the rest of the gang has no clue. But now LS looks just the same as Solera???
After LightSquared tanks, I will certainly miss.....
I think it is 1500 watts, still way higher than stated.
I know Javad has said they could fix any receiver, but maybe not for that price, I think the last time he spoke he indicated it would be via some sort of trade in allowance, personally I am very put off by the way Javad has been acting and WILL NOT buy any product from them UNLESS that was the only way on the face of the earth to keep my business going. If LSQ fails, I see Javad failing, if LSQ goes ahead they may have a booming business, I see this as a last ditch effort by Javad to make a go of it, he is all in with the LSQ roll of the dice. While on his own, he has always been a minority player, maybe good technically and a few ideas like the four antenna pole that work, but aren't practical for everyday work, BUT horrible marketing. Javad designed receivers have only previously sold in significant numbers when painted Topcon yellow. Javad seems to be a brilliant engineer who writes his own ad copy.

The FCC originally authorized 15,000 watts per transmitter. I'm sure this was by LightSquared's request and not out of generosity.

Yeah, I was just kidding about who writes the check (although Javad has said he can "fix" any GPS, he hasn't quoted a price for non-Javad units ...). Of course, he has to consprire with LSQ to "break" them first, otherwise no need to "fix" them, and his plans go down the crapper.
I hope the calls of LSQ being on the verge of bankruptsy are correct. Would not mind seeing LSQ go down in flames ...
