I've been away visiting my father who is undergoing some medical tests. This morning I got a call from our burglar alarm company saying they had an alarm at our home and had dispatched the police. Some SOB had kicked in our front door. Apparently the alarm scared them off after stealing only our new (relatively) flat screen TV. They have someone in custody and I believe I'll get my TV back relatively soon, but now I've got to replace AT LEAST the door frame and possibly the whole section. I have NO USE for thieves, if you're stealing food to feed your baby I MIGHT have some symapthy, but I want them to lock these folks away for a LONG time. GRRRRR!!!!!
Andy
BTDT, you have my condolences. It is not fun.:-(
You have been violated. That feeling is at the core of the upset experienced. We live in a country where normally we are not subjected to such behavior in our own homes. Yes, some of our Beerleggers may live in high-risk areas, but, I'm betting only a small percentage. Most of us can come and go every day with little fear of being attacked in any fashion. A theft is similar to the death of someone close to us, especially if near our own age. We prefer to think it only happens to THE OTHER GUY.
Happened to us. The difference was that we were not away at the time.
That reminds me of a sign that I have seen. It says "That door you just kicked in was for your protection, not mine" Of course, it is a picture of the homeowner with a 12 gauge at the ready. I would say that personal gun ownership prevents a lot of home invasions in my area.
Sorry my friend. That has to be a horrible feeling. Our homes are supposed to be our sanctuary, our safe place.
If someone everbreaks in my house, and I am home at the time, there is only one way they are leaving, if you get my drift.
Thieves are scum, and they seem to have more rights than the victims.
I hope you get things back to normal soon.
So sorry, Andy. :'(
Those Jerks!! They need a whippin'!!!
Last week a 92 year old widower farmer down the road had three burglars break into his house at 2:00 am. He had recently had 90 cows stolen and another home break in. He sat in his chair and when they kicked open the door from the basement he shot the lead burglar with a .22 rifle. One dead, 2 in jail. His quote was "They're not worth anything more to me than a gopher". I couldn't have said it better myself. He has become a local hero.
I had read about him. Tough old codger.
:good:
great story!! good for him!
