@holy-cow

They had minimum 40 MPH, in Nebraska, on the Freeway; wish they had minimum speed limits out here...

Car insists on changing lanes in front of me, 70, 65, 60, 55 move left to pass, driver in front puts phone down, accelerates, if I manage to get in front of them they proceed to pace me.

I swear people are incapable of putting their phone down for more than 30 seconds. Beats me what's so fascinating on there.

OMG it hurts reading about other states.?ÿ

?ÿ

Drivers License examiner told me "I know South Jersey is kinda the twilight zone as far as traffic enforcement, but anywhere else you have to use turn signals for a parallel park..."

?ÿ

Not only do we not use turn signals for parallel parking, if you are on the Parkway, speed traps are for those doing 80 plus. Pkus.. 80 is what my CC is set to. Been back home for the last 15 years. Been pulled over twice.?ÿ

?ÿ

Once doing 75 through an 55 MPH intersection because my registration was expired, in which i got a warning and the number to call so i did not even have to go to DMV...

?ÿ

The other time was a bad traffic spot. I drove over the gore to make the left hand turn signal in western jersey right past a cop. When he asked what I did wrong,?ÿ I him I drove over the gore because that light sucked. (I would have been caught there 3 more cycles), he came back in a minute and told me to either wait my turn or find another route. I assume it was because I knew what the gore was... The time I saved, was stil l worth it.

?ÿ

IT?ÿ maybe the respectful way I talk, or it maybe that because I know how dangerous their job is, I pull over, turn off vehicle, roll windows down keep my hands visible and put the rear corner of my car out to protect the officer coming to me in a traffic stop.?ÿ Or maybe like my driving test examiner said, South Jersey is just the twilight zone...

?ÿ

Here it is illegal to drive while holding a handheld device (phone).?ÿ Obviously it is not universally obeyed but it sure has helped.?ÿ I read recently the number of tickets written for violation and it was in the thousands.

The worst instance I've ever seen was passing a motorcyclist who had BOTH hands on his phone texting.?ÿ Darwin was about to claim another.

@andy-bruner

it's illegal here as well but that doesn't mean much when the threat of consequences is almost non-existent.

EVEN WHEN THE DRIVER THAT REAR ENDED ME ADMITTED HE WAS ON HIS PHONE IN FRONT OF THE OFFICER. No citation.

@nettronic

to be clear, police are not even in the top ten of the most dangerous jobs.

number 1 and 2 are logging and commercial fishing, number 10 is landscaper. The guy that mows lawns has a more dangerous job than the police.

it's good marketing, when a logger is killed there's no parade.

the few times I drove the NJ turnpike there were troopers every quarter mile pulling people over. I've never seen anything like that in California. I might see one CHP on I-5 between Stockton and Los Angeles, anything under 85 gets a yawn.
