It??s been a fiasco but supposedly the rebar I ordered last Friday is done.... anyway I pull into the bay and tell my 9yo son to stay in the truck while they load it. The yard man moves the overhead crane down the track to pick it up. - 92 pc of #6 rebar 27? long. They??ve put it in one bundle which is fine. The guy hooks it up and starts moving it. My son asked why don??t they just carry it over. I said it??s heavy - it weighs 35o pounds.?ÿ
he seemed to understand a bit more then. The guy lowers it down and unhooks it and asks, ??what are you going to do with this?? ?ÿ?ÿ
I said it??s spindles for a deck railing. He looks at me sideways.?ÿ
I said, honest- my wife saw it on Pinterest- ?ÿ
He really cracked up over that.

@flga-2. It will actually price out pretty well. $2.71 a stick- comparable to composite materials or prefab wrought iron. Red wood spindles are $2 each at Home Depot right now.

@daniel-ralph Once upon a time, when I was a field engineer, I had a formula stuck in my head for calculating the weight per foot for rebar.?ÿ Something like the square of the bar (#4, #6, etc.) divided by 24.?ÿ I haven't tried it in 25+ years so that may not be right.

Painting rebar for me is a two step process and it works very good.
First part Krylon Fusion All in One, it plastic coats and seals the rebar and act as a primer
Second to finish is to use Rust Oleum of your color choice and spray a couple coats.
Have not had any peeling or flacking.
You are going to cap every one of those right?
