So my husband, a licensed surveyor since 1998, turns 60 next month. I thought a great gift idea would be to have a benchmark disk made to install locally (on our curbing maybe, haven't got that far yet). Where does one get the benchmark discs made / engraved? even if not official I thought it would be cool. Any suggestions? ideas?
We have seen / looked for benchmark discs on our travels and have seen in the bahamas, the UK, Canada and at least 15 states.
Bernsten, which Norm linked, is the go-to for such things.
If you can find a good stable publicly accessible place to mount it, you could run GPS sessions and get it into the NGS data base through their Bluebook process. Not quite as good is OPUS Share, which puts data into a lesser publicly available database.
