Does anybody have a recommendation for a good .PDF file Editor.

Adobe's monthly fee seems a little excessive. Plus I don't like being locked into a monthly fee.

don't download the one called PDF merger & splitter. I had loaded it onto a laptop that I typically keep for personal use and it started out great but now it crashes every time towards the end of a merger. There are a few online that will do what you might need (if you're in a pinch) but they have limits in either size or quantity of files added

I've used Foxit Pro. It works pretty well as long as the file sizes are not too great (say 50 pages or so). Not free at $139, but a lot cheaper than Adobe.?ÿ I also tried out NitroPDF and it seemed OK, too. Similar price. Both will allow you a free demo period. Try 'em out.

I've never found any freeware that comes close to being satisfactory.

I liked Foxit but I've been on a demo run of Bluebeam lately and that seems fine as well.?ÿ Bluebeam seems fancier and costs a little more than twice as much as Foxit (I think) but I believe both are perpetual licenses, so in the grand scheme of things if you liked the fancier editor more is $150-200 really gonna keep you up at night?

@bstrand

Bluebeam is what I have to use now. It is $350 for a seat. I works fine, but I'm not sure I could justify it at more than double the cost of Foxit. Unless I was handling large files routinely and/or taking advantage of its project collaboration features.?ÿ

I paid for a perpetual license for Adobe Acrobat Pro. It did everything I needed and was easy to use. Then I upgraded my computer to Windows 10.

Guess what. You have to enter the authentication code which doesn't work. I whined to Adobe. "Sorry we don't support obsolete programs'????

adobe's latest update SUCKS.?ÿ can't even properly qualify or quantify how much buggy bullsh*t we're finding with it.?ÿ will be putting something else on the next machine for sure.
