Like them or not, Lynyrd Skynyrd was a pop band that chiseled their name on the proverbial rock wall of remembrance.?ÿ
Don't get my lyin' cause I never followed them that much..but apparently a lot of folks did...through all the highlights and pitfalls of rock stardom.?ÿ They endured successful notoriety, drug and alcohol addiction, car crashes, plane crashes and gold and platinum albums.?ÿ And recently the last surviving original member Gary Rossington, 71, passed away.
It feels like reading the last page of a long book.?ÿ There's nothing left to do but close the book and place it back on the shelf..and remember all the chapters.?ÿ ?ÿ

Some awesome lyrics ! !
My very first album ever was Skynyrd. I've made the pilgrimmage in the bed of a pickup truck with lots of beer to Brickyard Road where Lonnie, Donnie, and Ronnie lived and the sign was ultimately set way up on a 10' post because people kept stealing it. If I had to choose only one band that I could ever listen to it would be the original lineup. They partied hard and played hard, but they practiced 12 hours a day to get good at their job.
They formed at a time when coming up with a band name consisted of throwing darts at a dozen open dictionaries. Then skew the words a bit. Did anyone else ever hear of:
Frozen peaches on melba toast
Dali's clock
The slidsters
Frankbobjoeharry
Twisted brother
That's not how this band did it. They named it for their least favorite teacher, with a slight modification to make it rhyme better.
So, Strawberry Alarm Clock got their name from their gym teacher, too?
