I think we could take a minute and notice it's primarily the registereds who are doing the complaining here. The field crew usually learns to make it work. ?ÿi'm just sayin'. ?ÿ ?ÿ ??ÿ
You've got to be able to figure out that it's broke to complain about it......... ??ÿ ??ÿ
Hee hee. ?ÿHow true.

I think we should all (well, all of us that can) like this post. Haha, sorry, I just couldn't help myself. 😉
Still working on this issue plus some others. We'll probably release many of them in a single update.

Nevermind the ?button where the middle finger button.
I think your response is right on and very diplomatic.?
I figured Wendell went to work for Microsoft. They both know how to screw up a good thing with updates.
Behave, Skeeter. ??ÿ
I appreciate all of Wendell's and Angel's efforts. I don't get a chance to get on here as much as I would like anymore, but still visit a few times a day if possible.
Thanks again from West Tennessee!

These all add up. But what threads there have been are good quality and on point.
And this is actually the whole point. Thank you for "pointing" it out. 🙂
Wait a minute!!??!! ?ÿSince when did someone decide posts were supposed to be "good quality and on point"????????????????????? ?ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ ??ÿ

more to the point, who decides what is "good quality and on point"?
editorial vs forum
Just to follow-up on this issue...
I was just reviewing our current statistics since the upgrade. In order to get a fair number, I waited until after the holiday, and after potential vacation days after the first of the year. Here are my initial findings:
- In 2017, from January 8 through February 8, we had 37,803 unique visitors.
- In 2018, from January 8 through February 8, we had 53,661 unique visitors.
The Winter seasons are typically slower than Summer seasons. During our 2017 Summer season, we were regularly seeing over 50,000 unique visitors in any given 30 day period. At one point, we hit a high of 52,334. We obviously don't have Summer numbers for 2018 yet, but as you can see above, January is already killing last year's numbers.
Prior to the upgrade this past Thanksgiving weekend, we were getting somewhere around 5 average new users every day. I had to manually delete most (if not all) of them on any given day, because they were determined to be spammers or scammers. They didn't always try to post because of the restrictions that were in place. Any new legitimate new users would login and apparently just view the threads not available to non-logged-in users, because they rarely posted.
Today, we average around 3 or 4 new users per day and I've only deleted a few spammers/scammers since Thanksgiving weekend. This is a vast improvement in spam protection. Furthermore, many of the new users actually post in the forum immediately after signing up. This means that engagement has improved dramatically among new users. Even further, I'm very encouraged by the increase in posting, especially new topics, since the upgrade.
I've also noticed a distinct improvement in capturing traffic from Google search results. We are showing up a lot more. We're still only showing surveying-related topics publicly (meaning that's all Google is allowed to index) as we've done since Day One in 2010. But obviously the software is better tuned for SEO now than in the previous iteration and yeah, I'll take credit for that because the software is right in my wheelhouse now.
As I've stated in the past, I knew the upgrade was risky. But it was something I needed to do, and I had faith that it would work out just fine. However, I didn't expect it to bounce back this fast. I seriously expected the monthly unique visitors to drop down closer to 40k and stay there for awhile as folks adjusted to the updated software. I stand corrected.
With that, I'd like to say THANK YOU to everyone who stuck with it and worked through the bugs thus far. I realize there's more work to do and we're on it like flies on &$%!. I'm hoping to have another large update in place within the next week or so, so please stay tuned!
Wonderful news! Thanks for all you provide, do, etc.!
Where would we go, if this forum suddenly disappeard?
The old format was familiar and I could insert pictures. This new format isn't too terribly different but the change messed with my account and login and now I can't easily do the things I used to. Especially from my phone which is about the only free time I have while riding between jobs or at lunch. Now I'm lurking more without being able to login at times and I think this is my first post in months. All the good pics I've taken in the field, I've sort of lost the fire in my belly to post them.
How do you add pics now? Do I need a third party host site to embed images into a post?
The new topics and interesting subject matter does seem to have diminished in my humble opinion.

To post pics, just use the attach file link at the bottom. There seems to be no limit on file size with the new format, which is great.
Wendell will make it thru the "curl"?ÿ ??ÿ

There is a limit but it's higher than before. 🙂
