very tiny ants that have invaded my laptop over the weekend at the beach house.?

I just hope a queen ant has not moved in and that I have only scored a few forward scouts as I understand their acid is not liked by the computer.....

Have had the occasional scout marching, marching across the screen...squash.

Will one of these work?

turn it off, pull the power cord and pull the battery.

place on concrete or other nonflammable surface, cover with cardboard box with ventilation holes, place smoke bomb in box and light, wait thirty minutes, remove laptop from box, open laptop back, use hose with small brush and vacuum the ants that didn't leave.

Alternative is to use bug bomb in room where you have been using laptop, but then you have to wash a lot of surfaces later. Pro is that you don't need cardboard box nor nonflammable surface. You still need the vacuum.

😛

Put it where you can raise the temperature to 130º for about ten minutes.

A closed up vehicle in the sun might work, but be careful not to go much higher than 130º.

:coffee:

Just be grateful that they are not fire ants!

Well, I can't help much with the ants (although I would think a low-yield nuke would be worth a try), but I am thinking that you need to upgrade your avatar:

This is unbelievable. I get to be the first to suggest putting it in the microwave for two minutes on high.

You and your laptop go to the movies. Get a bag of buttered popcorn. Make sure you spill plenty on the seat. The ants will come out to get some of that popcorn, when they do, switch seats.

Freezer?

I know you can do that with a hard drive, maybe you could do that with the entire laptop?

Google:

diatomaceous earth

non toxic to mammals, works on most crawling bugs.

Richard

You should try talking to then in that that texting lingo you tend to post in. Maybe mix in some politics and I bet they leave of their own accord.

Thanks gents.....

I had thought of placing honey nearby and then not letting them back to computer. Bit like the popcorn and pictures.. LOL

Hopefully most are out, just hoping no queen still inside breeding up a colony.

Steve the Vegemite just might work!

Actually come to think of it, it was probably the Vegemite toast crumbs that caused the problem.
