Have you got your first OLD AGE "check" from Uncle Sammy yet?
I got my first one two weeks ago (didn't know until my bank statement showed up).
So I guess I'm now "officially" OLD, and technically "semi-retired," which means business as usual for me (still working 7 days a week, and no end in sight).
I still have fantasies of getting some fishing in this year though...
Well, back to CAD'n a Plat, and tomorrow it's a Survey Report, and another proposal...aaargh
:skull:

Well, we can be assured the Paden used a fake i.d. to induce the Social Security Administration to send him money. Should we assume that you just dyed your hair grey and pretended to have lost your birth certificate?

What hair???
My beard is going from grey to white as we speak (type).
Haven't started receiving my "benefits" yet. There's a lot the SSA doesn't tell you about the tax side of things. I'll be drawing it probably after the first of the year.
And BTW, if I could come up with fake ID to draw from, I probably would!
If/when you turn 65 there is an Automatic deduction for Part B of Medicare.
Part B is not an Opt In thing, they just start robbing you.
I was able to get them to Stop Robbing Me (and Refund it all), but it was not easy.
I chose to start my SS at age 62. Why not?
I have been told (by a reputable source) that at a later time, IF you pay back all of the $ you already received, they will bump up your monthly stipend to the higher rate (same rates as if you pulled the plug at a more advanced age).
I'm only 53 but I have a Grandson.
The best part is I say, Jameson don't throw the bark onto the patio. He tries the tantrum thing. OK you still can't throw the bark onto the patio.
I've been receiving SS for the last 12mos along with my 6yr old daughter receiving a half check and my wife chose to get a half check too.
My amount pays for insurance and theirs goes to Angela's college fund.
Early spring of this year the government changed the rules for joining SS and then opting out and delaying receiving benefits until 72 and allowing that to accumulate interest.
I have to admit that any more of my chat would jump off the cliff into waters we don't swim in...............
Geezers................... can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.
Hope to be one someday.
Sure beats the alternative all to heck.

That was changed a while ago. According to this SSA website, you can change your mind and pay back all benefits, but only within the first 12 months after you start receiving payments.
