I try ( and usually succeed) to sneak a nap in sometime in the afternoon, and that helps a lot even if it's only 20 minutes it so.

The best long- term advice I have is regular exercise. I put in 22 minutes on the Stairmaster nearly every day, and I think that goes a long way toward keeping the stress in check. Combined with the exercise I get in the normal course of field work, it seems to keep me in good shape.

The exercise is key! My wife and I make time for a Crossfit WOD on a 3 on, 1 off schedule. Makes a WORLD of difference and I feel better afterwards, even if I didn't want to do the workout anyway.

Stress relief can be interpreted in different manners:

Hi Will. There is another part of the story: ""No rest for the wicked. And the righteous don't need any. Just haven't figured out which one I am." That is the little ditty I remember from my Dad when I was young. Truly the best way to handle the stress is to get to the point where you let it flow off of you, not into you. That can take a bit of attitude adjustment. I had a client that would call me at anytime from 6 am to midnight, and he expected me to pick up the phone and talk to him. He finally badmouthed my profession and the engineering profession enough that I told him I was done with him. Fired. Best thing I ever did. Learned how to say no. It made my life a lot easier. You are kind of stuck but try to get your scheduler(s) to give you a bit more time and flexibility. It will make their life better too. You will be in my thoughts in the coming months. Cold weather is coming. Maybe some downtime might do you good too. Take Care. Lead on. Jerry.

The call at 5:30 this morning telling me that my Brother in Law had passed put everything in perspective. Now what was I so upset about yesterday?
