In the last couple of years I have made it a point to at least have some candy on hand. A few years ago I was helping a friend move on that very day. Not realizing what day it was (either of us), he drops me off at my place and it was dark. So when I opened my door, I cut the outside light on - again not realizing.
No sooner than that happened, a rapping came a knocking on my chamber door. I had nothing to give out and these were all my little buddies down the street. I felt horrible.
The next year I made sure that wouldn't happen again. I got 2 bags of of those little Snickers bars. Only one of my "buddies" showed up. The others had moved away by then. Fine, I love Snickers. I did the same last year. No one showed up at all. Fine again, I still love Snickers.
This morning, I got a bag of Babe Ruth bars and Butterfingers. The store didn't have Snickers. (I was at a dollar store). That's OK, I love those as well. However, I don't think the Butterfingers would be as good chilled as the Snickers are.

One year, many many years ago, me and my girlfriend were going to a party so we didn't get much candy. We also figured not many would show up being that very few in the neighborhood knew us. It was [yet another] horrible feeling to have to tell a kid "we've ran out, sorry".

Anyway.... this is my point..
I be sure to get candy that I will eat in case they don't show up.
These are my preferences and not necessarily in order because I like them all:
Snickers
Babe Ruth
ButterFinger
Almond Joy

In the 8 years I've been living in the Boonies, I've had maybe 3 trick-or-treaters, but I always keep candy on hand. Snickers top the list with Reese peanut butter cups and Tootsie pops running a close second...:-)

I usually have around 100 trick or treaters, but the weather may be ominous this Halloween because of some damn hurricane in the Caribbean. But I am still going to Costco tomorrow and buy full size candy bars.

Snickers
Reeses peanut butter cups
Butterfingers (I love them)
Blow Pops
Ring Pops (I get a kickback from my neighbor dentist/orthodontist for doing this)

As a result, I’ve never been TP’d since I’ve lived here.

Y’all have a great Halloween!:-)

Note to RFB: I want the lollypop on the left for my wife!;-)

The kids are lucky if a single Reese's Peanut Butter Cup makes it out my door 🙂 they get all the rest.

> Almond Joy & Snickers

Same here. I used to hate the Almond Joys but now I can't keep my hands off of them.

Because of where I live, any one that comes by will be driving or their mothers will be, so I will take just a little from each, as they come to the door. Teach them to share, be doing something for this country that way, instead of just taking because it is my right without giving anything back.:-|

Due to the fact that we will typically have between 600-700 show up at my door, I only give out the inexpensive generic type of candy. We do have "special candy" set aside for children that we actually know, but not for the masses.
