We are in our third day of an excessive heat warning. I live in Tipton County, just north of Memphis, TN.

High temp yesterday was 105, with a heat index of 117.

Current temp is 102, with a heat index of 117.

I did not even attempt to head out into the field today. One of my friends has a crew member go to the ER yesterday morning from heat related symptoms that started Monday afternoon.

Be careful out there.

Not that bad here, sunny and 68:-) at 1:00pm, looking for a high of about 75.

I don't envy you guys working in heat like that, stat safe and drink lots of water.

Cheers,
Radar

In Millington yesterday, the high temp was 106, with a heat index of 134. That is just about 10 miles or so south of here.

The news just reported the 10th heat related death in our area since the extreme heat set in.

I was out yesterday morning, and by 10:00 A.M., it was way too hot for me. Call me a wimp, but when you are drinking fluids, and taking frequent breaks, and you still get that light headed feeling, it is time to head back to the office.

We just got in from the field. It's 103° right now. Yesterday high of 105° Monday was the same.

Yesterday wasn't so bad, we only mapped 16000' of river yesterday, so most was in the shade, but I was wore slap out after 11 straight hours.

Today was brutal, but I don't know if it's that hot, or I'm that wore out from three solid days of 10-12 hour days in the field.

Tomorrow, we'll be through by dinner, and we can enjoy the ride back to Cherokee County in the A/C.

funny thing is, friday is supposed to be cooler. I guess it's murphy's law of surveying, if you spend all summer in the A/C, it's a pretty mild summer, right up until you have to go out of town for a week. 🙂

Heat index here has been well over 100 for about a week here. The dogs don't want to go at all. Can't say I blame them cause I don't neither. This damm disease I got is seriously aggravated by heat and humidity - so, ya, I'm a shut-in until it's o-dark-30.

Excessive Heat Warning ....Jimmy...

Last November we had a few days of extreme heat with one day max 46.3C, 115.3F where I was surveying , which was out of character as it is pre-summer in SOZ. Started in field pre-sun up and fished at midday as air was so dry and dust became intrusive Every one was bleating "global warming". Then when traditional summer time came we had a mild summer! This winter is currently the coldest at night that I can remember.

Excessive Heat Warning ....Jimmy...

June and July were both record breakers. But August seems to have started off rather "nice". No more triple digit heat index. (so far)

Is that Autumn in the air?

Jimmy, can't say enough about being careful in this heat...it's dangerous..I got a crew working in downtown Memphis and just SE of Millington. Working about 4 hours a day...I could do it 30 years ago but not now....

Plenty of H2O

Heat warnings here too. Lost one of our goats yesterday to the heat. We're only working half days to avoid it.
