I hate shaving. My wife says she prefers me clean shaved. I don't grow a full beard. Maybe too much Chinese or Indian in me. (I don't know). Anyway, I bought a pack of 6 blade razors, off of eBay, with a handle. They sent a little pack of shave butter with it.
So far, they are the sharpest, and stay sharp the longest of any razor I've ever used.?ÿ
Cost was around 7-8 bucks, for the handle, blades, and a sample pack of shave butter. Shipping incl.?ÿ Off eBay.
Anyway, it's my favorite, so far.?ÿ
Its not Burma shave, but...

Shaving products have become so overpriced in the stores. 5 blades? P u l l l l l l e a s e. Just a matter of time before somebody on the web jumped into the game.
I trim my beard with hair clippers about once a week.
Can't grow a full beard? Then who is that guy in your avatar picture?
I've been a happy customer of the DSC for a number of years now and highly recommend them...unless you own stock in Gillette or Walgreens?ÿ.
A pack of blades comes every month with a little folded up publication of jokes to read while you're "having a moment" on the throne.?ÿ Besides the foo-foo butter they also come with a little packaged handi-wipe labeled "One Wipe Charley" for your wallet.?ÿ These too come in handy when one gets 'caught short' in the woods.

Yours truly has been clipped. I grow slow.

My kids were full grown before they first saw me without a full beard. It was hardly over 3/4in and I ran the comb and clippers thru it regularly. When I cut it off they came in for a holiday and it was "Where is dad?"
Schick made a simple cheap razor that cost $3 a dozen about 20yrs ago when I saw the market coming out with designer products that were 3 for $5 and I decided to stock up with the simple Schick razors so every visit to the market I would buy several packs and did until they were no longer on the shelves. I still have 3 packs in the drawer.
I have worn out two Braum rechargeable electric razors in the last 10yrs. Electric shaving is the best feel and really simple. Problem is they are simply too expensive, the blades dull quickly and most must be found online and those little motors don't last.
I rarely shave anymore and one Schick will last nearly a year when kept clean and dry. I keep a 1 day growth with #1 guide on a set of clipers and only cut that off for weddings and funerals.
Couple of years ago I decided not to shave anymore.?ÿ I now have a full, white beard.
I'm at stage four of life:
Stage one: You believe in Santa Claus
Stage two: You?ÿ don't believe in Santa Claus
Stage three: You are Santa Claus
Stage four: You look like Santa Claus
I shave my neck daily with a disposable razor, usually a Bic.?ÿ I get several months, maybe more, out of one before it becomes dull enough for me to bother digging out a new one.
The rest I trim weekly with scissors.?ÿ I keep it pretty short, short enough that, as I recently learned, an N95 particulate mask seals pretty well against it.
I use a small electric shaver without any attachments for the "close" shave. I use an attachment every couple of weeks for the beard, and another attachment for trimming a couple times per week. For special occasions, I *might* whip out the fancy razor, but even then it's only for non-beard/mustache areas. I can buy a pack of really nice blades at Costco and they'll last for 20 or more years, easy. I just bought one a couple years ago so I'm probably good until I die.
Alrighty then, without seeming to be to preachy your razors, a single razor should last you years before wearing out.
Beard hair does not dull a razor corrosion dulls it. I have been using the same razor for at least 3 years now and not a sign of problems. I shave my neck and under my eyes and cheek area every day.?ÿ
Get you a bottle of mineral oil and a small jar, I use a candle jar, and after rinsing and cleaning and shaking the water off I drop my razor in my jar with mineral oil and leAve it till next time.
You can use baby oil or motor oil or olive oil.
Voila, no rust and you save a buck, actually a lot of bucks.
Beard hair does not dull a razor corrosion dulls it.
The bigger problem I've found is whiskers clogging the spaces between blades on a multi-blade razor (which seems to be just about all of them nowadays).?ÿ In addition to rinsing, I tap the razor against the side of the sink when I'm done, which helps to keep the clogging to a minimum.?ÿ But eventually enough whisker bits get in there and render the cut less effective, and that's when I toss it.
