We have a Zerox all in one machine, I suspect many of ya'll have seen the style or also have one.?ÿ Many of our local counties have the same kind.?ÿ For some reason though, it seems like the one in my office never does what I ask it to correctly.?ÿ Some days it prints 2 sided.?ÿ Some days it only prints half an image.?ÿ Today, I was looking at a small selection of points, less than 100 points.?ÿ I told it to print the selection (I think I told it to print the selection) and stepped out for a bite to eat.?ÿ I came back to a 3" pile of paper on my desk.?ÿ The secretary said I printed that when I left.?ÿ Sure enough, it is EVERY point in the job.?ÿ I guess I have lots of scratch paper for the house now...

The printer can't print what it isn't sent.?ÿ The excessive output must be the result of a software or human malfunction at the source computer.

Yes, I do.?ÿ I always hate at least one of them and I swear in general they are not as good as they used to be.

Brother has a printer app to print directly from my phone.

It never does what I ask it to so I have stopped using it.

The Brother all in one does one thing wrong that really annoys me.

It will not fill in the bar scale on my drawings half of the time.

It also keeps wanting more ink.........

Not at all. At work I print to the copy machine, at home we have a 3 year old $99 Brother 2160w or something like that connected to our WLAN. Never a bit of trouble, but wait!, there's more.....

My biggest bitch about printers is the cartridges which either cost more than, or at least a third of, what the printer cost to begin with. They should give us the printers because they make a fortune on cartridges. Some of us old men are grumpy about things like printers. ?????ÿ

GET OUT OF MY MARYJANE GARDEN !!!!!

YES! Especially on Friday and when someone is waiting on my equipment performing and it can't.?ÿ?ÿ

It's a damn good thing the window in this office is smaller than the printer.?ÿ

@flga-pls-2-2

They do almost give them away so they can sell cartridges.

The Brother that I have works well, but I have to use a couple tricks to get more out of the cartridges.?ÿ First, put black tape over the window that tells it when the cartridge is partway down, so that it doesn't nag you all the time.

Second, when it says the cartridge is empty, take it out and remove two screws so you can get at the plastic gears on it. Rotate the gear back to its beginning position and put the spring in place.?ÿ Reinstall the screws and put it back in the machine so you can print about another ream before the quality degrades.

I suggest that the problem with your printer is in your IT support. Drivers. Possibly also an ID-10T user error.

On the contrary I love my Brother MFC-8860 MFC printer. Year after year I'm amazed this plastic thing keeps going and going.

I've had it since 2005 - never had to have it serviced.?ÿ I just copied Bill93's tips above.?ÿ I knew the one about putting tape over the

sensor window. A former boss' Canon printer kept going so long that 20 years later when it needed some care the Canon technician

said he'd never seen his model.?ÿ Carry on.

I do suspect it is user error.?ÿ I did set down with my 3" stack of paper, determined yo pick out the pages with the points I needed, only to find out I had printed out every point EXCEPT the points I wanted and had up on screen.?ÿ I have no idea what key I hit or button I clicked, but I hope I never do that again!?ÿ On a side note, I have tried several printers here at home, and am almost always disappointed by how quickly they run out of ink, or do a misfeed on paper, or any one of a number of other things.?ÿ

One thing I hate about printers & plotters is that they seem to sense when they are needed to print something that's on a deadline.

This is when they seem to act up like a spoiled kid and decide to crash, have a paper jam or print portrait when you need it in landscape.

Known as a PEBKAC error.
