It'll just end up being another expensive performance exhaust system, Dodge is set to roll out about 3000 of these in '18. 🙂

That actually wasn't a Demon but a Drag Pak Challenger that had Demon stickers on it. It was driven by a women that is a proffesional drag racer and she smoked the Papa Johns Camaro big time.

A couple (maybe 3) years after my Grandfather died, my Grandmother called my Dad and asked if "we" (Dad and I) would come over and look at her car. She said that it was guzzling gas (worse than usual), and running like crap. It was the last car that my Grandfather bought (late 62 or early 63), and was a Black Mercury Monterey with a blue (yuck) interior. My Grandfather was famous (maybe infamous) for driving between Odgen Utah and his ranch in Dillion Montana in Warp Speed terms, so we knew the car could really move.

Well we pooped the hood, and it had a 3-duece 409 FE Big Block in it (405 HP w/ 12:1 compression ratio etc.). That explained the crappy gas mileage, and when Grandma told us that she hadn't even changed the oil since Grandpa died (let alone go it tuned up) the problem was obvious!

I see now that I screwed that thread up a bit:

Popped the hood (not pooped)
It was (of course) a 406 (not a 409)

Getting old is not for sissies.

A buddy in HS had a '62 or '63 Ford Galaxie two door hardtop with the 406 engine "tri-power" carburetion. His was the white top on red color scheme.

It was a fast beast. We were lucky to have survived those days. 😉

I had a buddy in HS with a '68 Firebird H.O., 400 ci with a four barrel, some kind of headers, traction bars and 50s in the back, four speed manual, I don't even know what all else. That car was gorgeous and deadly powerful. Unfortunately he didn't survive... but the accident was in a different car and he wasn't driving. That was a tough deal, I still think about him.

I don't know how you old farts can stand to tell stories of your lost muscle cars. It should haunt you at night.
----------------------
I had a 1972 Ford Maverick...not quite a muscle car. Gave it to my brother to rally race when he was in grade school.
He set up a dirt track, complete with jumps and beat that car for several years. 3 speed on the floor.

Really pissed my grandpa off because he drove a Maverick from 1971 to the mid 1990's and he could have used the parts. Every time he came over he would look at that car in disgust.

I traded it out of my system for reason that it was unsafe out on the roads today to continue the tradition of having a powerful and fast vehicle that would leave most in the dust.
Thru the years had a dozen or so vehicles with a well built motor and upgraded parts from end to end and top to bottom and still did not have a decent work truck because it takes time, effort and money to keep one on the road.
Gettin' 6 mpg just to hear that sound does not help.
There is a reason NASCAR can not exist without sponsors...........

I have a 1958 Chevy Apache 4x4 truck. I took a 1970's 2 bolt main 350 small block and rebuilt it with Hypereutectic pop up pistons to bump the compression a little since I was running 2.02 1.95 smog heads. RV grind cam and it was a heck of torque engine....few other performance parts...ran it for 8 or 9 years like that.

I later did a minor over haul it because it was burning oil (turned out to be the heads) and put the big valve camel hump high compression heads on it....Eldebrock Performer High RPM cam/lifter kit/intake kit....ram horn exhaust. I eventually got tired of the big cam lope and the power being at such high RPM's.

Gave it to my brother to put in a 1952 five window chevy pick up.
He put a close ratio 4 speed behind it and a properly geared rear end. A large Holly double pumper and headers...Man it screams through all the gears. You can lay down rubber at highway speed.

Sounds like a drag car when he fires it up...rattling all the fenders/doors/cab. Gets lots of attention and is a hoot to ride in.
