I am completely shocked and saddened to hear that Tony took his life last evening. RIP.?ÿ
Always thought he had the best job anyone could ever want. I ate at his restaurant in Manhattan a few years ago, he wasn't there at the time, but I was hopeful.?ÿ
He made it look like being Bourdain was easy. Apparently it was not.
I have always enjoyed his show 'Parts Unknown'.?ÿ In hindsight I think I sensed he was maybe preoccupied with something.?ÿ I'm saddened.?ÿ Checking out on your own ticket seems like a such a loss.?ÿ
RIP Chef.
Peace to those he left behind...
While I thoroughly enjoyed just about every show of his, it was pretty evident he was a tortured soul and full of self-loathing.?ÿ Watch the old No Reservations episode where they were pretending to to catch squid in Greece (I think).?ÿ He couldn't play the charade, blew off filming and went back to the hotel room and got drunk...a glimpse of the madness that made his point of view unique.
I didn't agree with some of his snooty judgements, though, as I also like Guy Fieri, Paula Deen, and Andrew Zimmern.
I will miss his turn of phrase, though.
SWMBO and I are deeply saddened by this - I never ate his food, but we have all his books and we've seen all his TV.
So, even those who have the world by the ass, may not realize that they do.?ÿ RIP Anthony....
